This song is basically the story of my life condensed into 3 minutes. After doing the whole college, MBA, and corporate thing for several years on the East Coast where I grew up, I packed up and moved to Los Angeles to follow my dream of becoming a hit songwriter.

One of the first things that happened when I arrived on California was that I met the woman who would become my wife. We eventually raised a family with 2 kids. During all that time, I was experiencing the joys and frustrations of the music business with some small successes and a few big near-misses.

Eventually, my kids reached college age, and both chose schools on the East Coast. Though I was still without that big hit song, my wife and I decided that this was a good time to go back to my roots and rejoin the rest of my family.

We packed everything we could and started driving. As I crossed the state line out of California into Nevada, the weirdest feeling came over me. After spending the better part of my adult life in that state, it suddenly felt like it all never happened. Starting at that moment, I literally wrote this song in the car while driving. It wasn't till we reached out hotel later that evening that I was able to pull out my computer and put the words in writing.
